Hailed as an “Astounding Virtuoso” and “Exhilarating” performer, the rising-star percussionist, Britton- René Collins, will join the COS for our season finale. Noted for her exceptional musicianship and active passion for creating social change through her music, Britton-René will perform a new work by Australian based composer, Sergei Golovko. Also featured on the concert will be a lightning-fast prelude from Wagner’s opera Lohengrin and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, which LA Philharmonic program annotator, Orrin Howard, describes as “an abundance of gorgeously conceived lushness and tautly brilliant propulsiveness, both operating within orchestral textures of rich sonority.”

Chamber Concert | Charlene Chi, Mezzo-Soprano

The Central Oregon Chamber Orchestra, a small ensemble drawn from the musicians of the COS, will perform an assortment of works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, Max Bruch, and Ottorino Respighi. Our featured soloist will be mezzosoprano, Charlene Chi, whose powerful, yet sensitive singing is engaging and enrapturing.

Music Masters Series

Music Masters Series are free and open to the public. There will be a free Oboe and Trumpet masterclass at 10 am at Wille Hall, COCC, followed by a recital at 7 pm.
Kim Ganong is an oboe and English horn player currently residing in Boise, Idaho. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami in oboe performance, plus a cognate in musicology. Dr. Kim Ganong can be heard performing around the Treasure Valley as Principal Oboe of the Boise Baroque Orchestra and also as a frequent guest with the Boise Philharmonic, Meridian Symphony, Opera Idaho, and many more! She is also serving as the Secretary-Treasurer of the local musicians' union (AFM Local 423).
Dr. Derek Ganong is a trumpeter, collaborator, engineer, and educator who is dedicated to breaking down the boundaries between genres, disciplines, audiences, and artists. Dr. Ganong is currently the principal trumpet of the Boise Baroque Orchestra, Opera Idaho, and is the Eb Soprano cornet for the Brass Band of the Treasure Valley. He is also a founding member of Newstream Brass, the Treasure Valley Jazz All Stars, and is the chief technology Officer and trumpet faculty member of the Brass Institutes of America.
