Haydn’s Symphony No. 101, nicknamed “The Clock” for its distinctive ticking rhythm in the second movement, exemplifies his wit, invention, and mastery of the Classical symphony. Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony pays homage to that same era with a fresh 20th-century twist—light, spirited, and full of surprising turns.
