This season’s chamber concert is a journey through classical style, from Baroque elegance to modern creativity. Corelli’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 4 showcases the grace and balance of the Baroque era, full of lyrical charm and intricate textures. Haydn’s Symphony No. 101, nicknamed “The Clock” for its distinctive ticking rhythm in the second movement, exemplifies his wit, invention, and mastery of the Classical symphony. Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony pays homage to that same era with a fresh 20th-century twist—light, spirited, and full of surprising turns. The program also features the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by Chris Thomas, offering a contemporary voice in dialogue with centuries of musical tradition.
