The 2009 COSA Young Artist Competition Winners

Senior Division:

FIRST PLACE: Kyle Ruggles, flute
Awarded First Place and $250 in the Senior Division (students completing 9th - 12th grade in the 2008/2009 school year) is Kyle Ruggles from Burns. Kyle performed the third movement from Jacques Ibert's Concerto for Flute . His flute instructor is Pamela Hughes.

 

SECOND PLACE: Michael Hodecker, violin
Awarded Second Place and $125 in the Senior Division is 15 year-old Michael Hodecker of Redmond. Michael performed the first and second movements of Max Bruch's Violin Concerto in G Minor . He studies privately with Diane Allen.

 

Junior Division:

FIRST PLACE: Miya Saito-Beckman, violin
Awarded First Place and $150 in the Junior Division (students completing up to 8th grade in the 2008/2009 school year) is 14 year-old Miya Saito-Beckman of Bend. Miya also chose to perform the first and second movements of Max Bruch's Violin Concerto in G Minor . She is instructed by Rebecca Hunter.

 

SECOND PLACE: John Fawcett, violin
Eight-year-old, second grader John Fawcett was awarded the Second Place and $75 in the Junior Division. The three movement Concerto No. 2 in G Major by Franz Joseph Hayden was John's competition selection. He is also a member of the violin studio of Diane Allen.
